BRUYERRE :
Almost a century of experience ...

1909 : François Léon Bruyerre started selling colonial produce( sugar, dry fruit, vanillasticks…) Thanks to the development of different means of transport, this trade began to increase in size.

1922 : François Léon Bruyerre bought a former biscuit factory. At that time, Bruyerre began to produce chocolates, confectionery and raw materials for bakeries.

1937 :He decided to create a limited liability company.

1940 :The second World War broke up and as a result, trade collapsed.

1945 : François Léon Bruyerre died and Mr Emile Collet and his brother Maurice married the two Bruyerre daughters : Yvette and Christiane.
Immediately, after the war, Mr Bruyerre 's successors set about restarting their business successfully.

1950 : Emile Collet and his brother Maurice launched a new activity and they began to deliver to bakers, ice-cream manufacturers the full range of materials they required such as kneaders, freezers, fridges, slicing bread machines…

As time passed, a market opportunity in preserved fruit opened up and their range of products became more and more complete : ice products, pudding, jams, chocolates, mashed fruit…
In the sixties, Bruyerre started to manufacture furniture for shops as counters… Road network was, of course, quite different from nowadays but however, Bruyerre was already present in whole Belgium and Luxembourg.

In 1971, Maurice Collet and Yvette Bruyerre died. Due to the incoming of the VAT, high salary increases, Bruyerre threw back all its activities into question and decided to stop manufacturing some of their products because it was too expensive for the market.

1973 : The next generation of the family went into business and they opened the first Cash and Carry shop in Gosselies, Belgium. In 1977, they launched the second one in Jambes (Namur)

1978 : Bruyerre achieved its first " ready for immediate occupation " shop

By 1980, Bruyerre decided to merge into a limited company and in order to give customers a better service, they created an after-sales department opened 24 hours/24, 7 days out of 7.

1984 : The company has grown so that we called it now : " The Bruyerre Group " with its 4 main activities :

l Production of top of the range handmade chocolates, marzipan … run by Thierry Collet
l Raw materials for bakeries, ice-cream manufacturers… run by Danielle Collet and her husband R.Boucheron
l Equipment for bakers, restaurateurs... run by JF Collet
l Cash & Carry shops run by Martine Collet

The “Cash and Carry” shop, even extended 3 times, is still too small and a 1.200 m2 show-room is built, next to it.
In 1988 and 1992, the unexpected death of Martine Collet and Thierry Collet plunged the whole company into deep mourning.

Today, after 90 years, Bruyerre, leader on the market, is still run by a young and dynamic management.
Moreover, Bruyerre is the oldest company still operational in Gosselies and one of the oldest in the Belgian Bakery world.

Its only receipt for such a success is :
Quality and Service, day after day, time after time.
